A day in the life of a Golf Operations Manager

11/04/2019

Sebastien Espitalier-Noel the Golf Operations Manager at Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa and Canonnier Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa invites you to discover the magical of Mont Choisy Le Golf...

Sebastien started his career as a sales representative in South Africa before relocating in 2016 to "the magical multi-cultural island of Mauritius." His position as Callaway brand representative for Mauritius enabled him to "form strong relationships in the golfing industry" before he pursued his passion for golf further in 2017 taking on the role of Golf Operations Manager for Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa and Canonnier Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa.

Putting golf holidays into full swing

Typically, Sebastien starts his day by checking the "complimentary shuttle service to and from the course to the resorts" have been arranged for the day ahead. Enjoying "meeting and engaging with golfers from different regions of the world" he ensures guests, travel agents and members of the press receive a warm welcome and personalised service throughout their stay. Working alongside his team he achieves this through a variety of key tasks; advising guests about Callaway rental clubs, booking lessons with the resident Beachcomber golf professional or Mont Choisy Le Golf (PGA) golf professional and ensuring golf bags are transported between the course and the resort. All of which goes towards creating "an unforgettable golfing experience that means guests leave the resort with a smile."

As the only 18-hole championship golf course situated in the north of the island, Mont Choisy Le Golf is as Sebastien describes "a special place." Featuring natural sand hazards, magnificent fairways and undulated greens, you'll even find a "sugar mill at the 15th signature hole, a reminder of this once historical sugar cane plantation." Choosing a favourite hole however is something Sebastien simply says is "difficult to pinpoint, as they all feature magnificent landscaping and well positioned hazards."Although when encouraged further to "choose one that stands out" he opts for the 9th hole - a medium length PAR 4, which has a series of strategic bunkers that protect both the fairway and the green "it also has a view of the magnificent clubhouse in the background where you can enjoy refreshments at the turn."
