Michelle shares her experience
18/04/2024Michelle a seasoned travel industry professional, started her career at Beachcomber Tours in 2016. Since then, she has travelled to countless destinations across the globe on business, conducting extensive hotel inspections and gaining invaluable insights into diverse destinations. Despite her wealth of travel experience, Michelle's recent holiday to Constance Ephelia in The Seychelles turned out to be the holiday of a lifetime!
Michelle and her partner, Henry, had always dreamed of visiting the Seychelles. After considerable research, they came across the beautiful resort, Constance Ephelia, based on the Island of Mahe. Michelle states, “This was the obvious choice for us, at it had everything we were looking for, from fantastic restaurants options, abundance of activities, giant tortoises, not to mention the white sandy beaches”.
Q – Tell us about the transfers in the Seychelles?
On arrival, we were greeted by the friendly and professional staff at Masons Travel. We were quickly shown to our driver, Berard Moustache, who must have been the happiest person in the Seychelles. On our journey to the hotel, he explained a little history about the island and even made a stop at a nearby viewing platform with incredible views of the nearby islands. After almost an hour, we arrived at Constance Ephelia resort.
Q – What room category did you stay in, and where is it located in the resort?
We stayed in the lead-in room category, a Junior Suite, and it did not disappoint. The Junior Suites are located south of the resort, which is perfect for us, as it was close to the main restaurant and reception area. All suites offer endless ocean views. We were located by the quiet pool which was handy when wanting a quick dip! When I return, I would upgrade to a Senior Suite, as they are located on the North Beach, which is where most sun lounges are.
Q – Did you try all restaurants, and which is your favourite?
As we are big foodies, we tried all the restaurants. We had booked on a half board basis, which meant we could dine in all restaurants except for Cyann. However, at Cyann you get a resort credit. The buffet had plenty of choice and offers a wonderful breakfast with lots of fresh fruit, hot food, pancakes, you name it. My all-time favourite however was Adam and Eve, as I had the most flavoursome and delicious Pad Thai. I still dream about it now!
Q – What water sports did you participate in and what was your overall experience like?
As a passionate snorkeller, I made it a point to take Henry snorkelling every day, especially since he had never experienced it before. We were both amazed at the vibrant coral reefs and marine life, we saw trumpet fish, string rays, parrot fish, just to name a few. We also indulged in kayaking, which proved to be an excellent way to explore the shoreline.
Q – Did you have a spa treatment?
The moment you enter the spa, you're filled with a sense of tranquillity. Guests are welcome to utilise all the spa facilities without prior booking, which adds to the convenience and spontaneity of the experience. We had a couples massage and the masseuse worked wonders on us, so much so we booked in to have another full body massage.
Q – How did you find the service at the resort?
From the moment we arrived at the resort, to the moment we left, the staff could not do enough for us. Everyone was so welcoming, friendly, and always had a smile on their face. You could just tell they all loved working there.
Q – Do you think the resort is suitable for families?
The resort has so much to offer families of all ages. You can zipline, rock climb, of course all the non-motorised water sports, and my favourite, feed the giant tortoises! The kids club has a children pool, and even kids sun lounges. The hotel had various activities for kids of all ages to participate in, from arts and crafts to movies. The hotel also offers stunning 2-bedroom Family Villas, which have private pools.
Q – What is the best way to get around the resort?
As the resort is huge, the hotel offers golf buggy's, which work like little buses. Around the resort, there are “bus stops”. If you don’t fancy the walk, just wait here and a buggy will come within 10 minutes. Alternatively, you can walk from South Beach to North Beach, and it will take around 15 minutes.
Q – What was your favourite activity outside the resort
We visited Sauzier Waterfall which is only a 20-minute walk from the hotel and offers amazing views. There is a small entry fee of 50 Seychellois Rupee (around £3.00), but it’s worth a trip. Swimming in the rock pool was the perfect way to cool off.
Q – How easy is it to explore The Capital, Victoria, and the rest of Mahe?
Constance Ephelia is around 40 minutes from the Capital, Victoria. There are local buses just outside the resort, however due to winding road and stops, it can take a while to get there. I would recommend either hiring a car or jumping in a taxi.
Q – How easy is it to island-hop in the Seychelles?
Island hopping in Seychelles is a wonderful way to see the different islands and is so easy. From Mahe, you can get a ferry to Praslin. This takes around 1 hour, however you can pay extra and take a 15-minute flight. From Praslin, you can also catch a ferry to La Digue, which only takes 15 minutes.
Q – What was the highlight of your stay at Constance Ephelia?
It’s difficult to choose a highlight, as we had the most incredible stay. The North Beach was sensational, it really does have white powdery sands and turquoise clear waters, such a relaxing place to be. The food was amazing, and as I mentioned, the staff just couldn’t do enough for you.
Q – How would you sum up your Seychelles experience?
Absolutely enchanting. From start to end, it was truly phenomenal, and I can’t wait to go back!
