How much does a wedding in Mauritius cost?

How is the wedding arranged?

Once you’ve chosen your ideal date, simply let us know and we’ll confirm availability within 24 hours, as we guarantee only one wedding per day at each resort. If your chosen date is available, we’ll secure everything and send you full confirmation.

To confirm your booking, a 10% deposit of the total holiday cost is required, along with a £150 deposit for the wedding package.

How much notice is required to organise a wedding?

Allow at least twelve weeks to organise your wedding and ensure all paperwork reaches the hotels on time.

What happens if I have been divorced?

If you have been divorced we need a copy of your decree absolute and previous marriage certificate sent to our UK office. You must take all original documentation with you to Mauritius. By Mauritian law if the bride-to-be has been divorced for 10 months or less she will need a Mauritian Doctor’s certificate of non-pregnancy. If the bride to be is already pregnant you would have to wait until she has been divorced for more than 10 months.

What kind of wedding ceremony will we have?

All of our weddings are civil ceremonies.

How do I transport my wedding dress?

Each airline we feature to Mauritius has a different baggage policy concerning wedding outfits. As these change from time to time we recommend that you speak to our reservations department before you travel so they can make the necessary notes in your airline reservation. Air Mauritius allows a second piece of luggage not exceeding 23kgs for the brides wedding dress only. British Airways, Emirates and Air France; your wedding outfits form part of your luggage allowance and you may be charged if you exceed this. We recommend that all your wedding outfits are professionally packed as the airlines will not allow you to hang them onboard the aircraft.

Can we invite guests to the wedding?

You can invite as many guests as you like, however, if you do have a large group we would recommend you get your guests to book at the same time as you to ensure availability.

We have a superb Wedding Party Offer, which we hope will encourage as many of your family and friends to join you as possible. A percentage of your wedding guests must stay at the same hotel as you to qualify for the offer. Speak to our team to find out more.

Will the wedding ceremony be conducted in English?

All weddings in Mauritius will be conducted in English. If you would like the ceremony conducted in another language please let us know at time of booking and we will happily find out if this is possible.

Are hair and beauty services available at the hotel?

At all of our hotels in Mauritius you can arrange to have your hair and make-up done with a trial session. This is included in the Beachcomber Barefoot and Beachcomber Bespoke wedding packages.

What should we wear for our wedding?

In Mauritius the emphasis is on relaxation and individual tastes. Mauritius has a warm climate all year round so we would suggest for the bride that she chooses something light-weight. For the groom linen, is a popular choice however it really is down to personal preference. You really can wear what you want from kilts to shorts, full wedding dresses to a casual sun dress the choice is completely down to you!

What is an Apostille Stamp?

All Non British passport holders who are not part of the commonwealth need to have their marriage certificate stamped with an Apostille to authenticate it. Transport to the relevant offices to obtain the Apostille stamp will be required and will be at an additional charge.

From start to finish, you’ll be supported by our knowledgeable UK-based reservations team, along with a dedicated wedding planner in Mauritius. They’ll be on hand to guide you through every detail and happily advise on all aspects of planning your wedding in Mauritius.

When do the weddings take place?

Weddings take place Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.

What documents will I need to provide?

We require copies of the following documents at least eight weeks before your departure from the UK. Please note that weddings in Mauritius take place Monday to Friday only, excluding public holidays. Advance planning is essential, as the Supreme Court must receive at least one month’s notice.

We also recommend that you arrive in Mauritius at least three days before your wedding date.

Required Documents:

• Copies of passports
• Copies of birth certificates re-issued and dated within three months of your wedding date
• Decree Absolute or Final Order (if divorced), along with your previous marriage certificate
• Deed Poll documentation (if your name has changed), issued by the UK Deed Poll Office
• Copies of former marriage certificate and death certificate of former spouse (if widowed)
• Copies of adoption papers, if applicable
• Any non-English documents must be officially translated into English and stamped by a certified translator
• One signed copy of the Beachcomber Wedding Application Form, which will be sent to you once your booking is confirmed

IMPORTANT:

You must take all original documents with you to Mauritius.

I’m not a UK citizen, can I still get married in Mauritius?

Yes, you can. But there could be additional paperwork and charges that may apply even if you hold dual citizenship with the UK.

All clients who hold a non-UK Birth Certificate must contact their own Embassy or Consulate for guidance on the documentation required for getting married in Mauritius. This is in addition to the standard paperwork requirements issued by the Mauritian authorities. Please ensure you allow sufficient time for your Embassy to advise you on any country-specific documentation or legalisation that may be needed.

Please see below some country specific information to be noted.

Important Information Dual Nationality (Mauritian + Foreign): Intending spouses who hold dual nationality, where one of the nationalities is Mauritian, must marry as Mauritian citizens when marrying in Mauritius. This applies regardless of whether Mauritian nationality is listed as their first or second nationality. Therefore, holders of dual nationality cannot apply to marry under the procedures for non-citizens, and the official process for two foreign nationals will not apply to them. Beachcomber cannot be held responsible if a couple fails to disclose that that they have dual nationality.

Mauritian Parent(s): If one or both of a client’s parents are Mauritian, hold Mauritian nationality, or hold dual nationality (Mauritian + foreign), this must be disclosed to us. In such cases, the wedding procedures used for two non-citizens will not be applicable.

What Does This Mean? Beachcomber are not able to arrange weddings for Mauritian Citizens. If any of the above applies to you, unfortunately, we will not be able to arrange the wedding.

French Citizens: Unfortunately, we are not able to arrange weddings in Mauritius for French citizens.

Can we have a same sex wedding?

Unfortunately, at this stage, we cannot organise same sex weddings or commitment ceremonies in Mauritius.

Do we need Insurance?

We do not organise insurance for you, although there are a number companies that specialise in wedding and honeymoon insurance. We would also recommend your guests take out travel insurance just in case anything has to be changed!

How long will the ceremony last? 

The ceremony will last for approximately half an hour. We advise that you speak to your wedding co-ordinator at the resort to confirm this on your arrival.

Can we bring and use our own music?

We advise that you pick 4 pieces of music that you bring to Mauritius with you.

1. For the arrival of bride.
2. When the guests sign the register.
3. When the officer will declare the couple husband & wife.
4. Cake ceremony.

Do we need witnesses?

Two witnesses over the age of 18 are required by law. Not to worry if you have decided on a quiet intimate wedding for just the two of you we will arrange the witnesses for you.

Is our wedding legal in the UK?

Your wedding will be performed by a licensed marriage officer which ensures your wedding is completely legal and recognised by UK law. The minimum age to get married in Mauritius is 18 years.

How long do we need to be in Mauritius before the ceremony?

We recommend that you are in Mauritius for at least three days before your wedding date.
