Martin Maclaren, Regional Sales Manager, recently returned from a holiday at Victoria Beachcomber Resort & Spa in Mauritius with his partner, Dougie. It is one of their favourite Beachcomber resorts, and he shared a few highlights from the trip.

When I was a travel agent over 20 years ago, my very first Beachcomber booking was to Victoria Beachcomber. I still remember it! Returning there now was just as magical. The location is perfect – I could relax on the beach or take a short taxi ride into Grand Baie for shopping and nightlife. I love the tranquil setting of the resort; sitting on the beach sampling cocktails is one of my favourite ways to unwind.
Adults-Only
Dougie and I stayed in the adults-only section, Victoria for 2, in a Swim-Up Room. I can honestly say, LOVE LOVE LOVE these rooms. Every morning I’d wake up, step out onto the terrace, and dive straight into the pool – it was pure bliss. If you’re thinking of booking one, make sure to do it early as these rooms go fast!
My favourite restaurant at the resort was Morris Beef, exclusively for adults. I tried several dishes, but the grilled rib of beef with barbecue sauce was just incredible – I can still taste it!
As for cocktails, Dougie and I tried over 20 different ones, all excellent. I do love a Bloody Mary, but on this trip, the Brandy Alexander stole my heart. The staff were fantastic with recommendations, making every evening feel like a little celebration.
Water Sports, Spa, and Relaxation
Victoria Beachcomber offers plenty of complimentary water sports. Did I try any? Not really – I prefer to watch others waterski while enjoying a drink by the bar!
The spa, however, was a real highlight. I had a Well-Being Shiatsu Massage, which was simply fantastic and relaxing. It was the perfect way to unwind after a few busy days exploring Mauritius.
Tips for Families and Couples
Victoria Beachcomber caters beautifully to all types of guests. Families will love the large rooms and 2-Bedroom Family Apartments, while couples can enjoy the exclusive adults-only section. I also highly recommend sampling as many cocktails as you can – they are truly memorable!
The staff are what really make the resort special. Seeing all the smiling faces and warm welcomes reminded me why I love this product so much.
Travel Preparations
Booking tests and forms online was straightforward. As long as you have the right insurance and test certificates, everything goes smoothly.
Victoria Beachcomber is a resort I can wholeheartedly recommend. From Swim-Up Rooms and delicious dining to beautiful beaches and welcoming staff, it’s the perfect combination of luxury, relaxation, and fun. I can’t wait to return!
